Hazardous Pesticides in the European Parliament On 10 October, PAN Europe and Milieudefensie published an analysis of eight fruit items (strawberries, apricots, oranges, apples, pears and three bunches of grapes) purchased at the convenience store located inside the European Parliament in Brussels. In total the fruits were shown to contain 28 different pesticide residues including ten carcinogens, three neurotoxins, three reprotoxins, eight suspected endocrine disruptors, and two substances classified by the World Health Organisation as being ‘Highly Hazardous’. Three of the food samples analysed contained pesticide in excess of Maximum Residue Limits making their sale illegal.
